MY PASSION FOR JEWELLERY
In 2007, after designing some jewellery and finding a passion for design, I decided to switch from studying geology to pursue a career in the jewellery industry. Because of my background in studying rocks, I excelled in the gemmology portion of the jewellery program I was enrolled in, receiving two awards for academic excellence in the subject, and decided to further pursue it. I completed my certification of gemmology through the Canadian Gemmological Association, receiving the distinction title as well as the corresponding awards for highest exam results in both years.
While completing my second year of gemmology, I concurrently enrolled in the Registered Master Valuer program, an international program for jewellery appraisal. After completing all of my studies, I furthered my education by apprenticing in a jewellery workshop and then managing a wholesale company. Every year, I attend a minimum of one industry conference to stay current on new treatments and issues in the industry. Currently, I'm also employed as a part-time educator for Vancouver Community College teaching gemmology and jewellery appraisal.
